Damascus Explosion Proves Terrorists can Target Civilians
The Kataeb Party said that the Monday morning explosion in Tripoli was a “terrorist message” to the military, which, the party said, was responsible for the safety of the people and the state.
After a meeting chaired by the party’s leader, Amin Gemayel, on Monday, Kataeb’s political office called on the country’s specialized agencies to bring those responsible for the explosion to justice. The party said it supported the Maronite League’s efforts to organize relations among different parties, along with those of the president and the Maronite Patriarchy.
The Kataeb Party also called on all Christian parties to make every effort to bring about reconciliation in the Christian community. The party condemned the Saturday explosion in Damascus, which, it said, proved that “international terrorism” was able to target civilians not just in Lebanon, but anywhere.
