Aoun Claims to Defend Christian Rights Whilst Attacking Patriarch Sfeir
Mufti of Mount Lebanon Sheikh Mohammad Ali al-Jouzo said on Sunday that he was critical of MP Michel Aoun’s claim that he defended Christian rights while he continued to attack Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir.
Jouzo added that Aoun had not been able to return to Lebanon before former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s assassination.
Jouzo said that Lebanese Forces Executive Council leader Samir Geagea was “wiser” than Aoun because his apology had been “courageous and heroic.”
He added that he supported the right of emigrants to vote from abroad and questioned the identity of those responsible for the Christian emigration.
