U.S. Embassy Warns of Potential Dangers in 1st Half of October
The U.S. embassy has issued a warning to its citizens about potential violent actions targeting Americans in Lebanon and called on its nationals to increase their security awareness.
It said the threats were particularly high in the first half of October.
"The U.S. embassy is concerned about the potential for groups or individuals to exploit the end of the holy month of Ramadan to undertake violent actions targeting Americans," the mission said in a statement.
"U.S. citizens in Lebanon are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness," it said.
It urged Americans to review their planned movements and to remain vigilant during this time.
"American citizens should also carefully assess the need to visit popular gathering spots or other public places where large numbers of people are present," the embassy said.
