Elections Will Be Most Important in Lebanon’s History
Environment Minister Antoine Karam said Tuesday that the 2009 parliamentary elections would be the most important in Lebanon’s history and would determine Lebanon’s destiny and image.
He said that the results of the vote in Christian areas would define the results of the entire election and the destiny of the coming generations.
During a dinner organized by the Lebanese Forces in Sydney, Australia in his honor, Karam said, “While we speak about the future, they insist on the past. We talk about hopes, they talk about reviving wounds. Nevertheless, we will keep our hand stretched and we will positively deal with reconciliation efforts with Marada Movement and its leaders.”
Karam also said that the Lebanese Forces would not retreat from its commitment to peace and to building a modern, fair, democratic and strong state since the Taif Accord, adding that the Lebanese Forces has preserved the country through its sacrifices and resistance.
