Aoun Welcomes the Clean and Pure Iranian Petro-Dollar
National Bloc leader Carlos Eddé said on Monday that MP Michel Aoun’s recent speech during the commemoration of the Syrian Army’s storming of the Presidential palace Baabda on October 13, 1990 included many false facts.
Eddé said that when Aoun attacked Saudi Arabia, which, Eddé said, supported Lebanon without differentiating between its people, he was implicitly thanking Iran and Syria for their financial and political support.
“Aoun rejects that Saudi Arabian petro-dollar but welcomes the clean and pure Iranian petro-dollar,” he said.
Eddé said that Aoun’s justifications about his alliance with Hezbollah proved that he was using “misleading information and lies.”
He also said that Aoun’s visit to Tehran coincided with October 13 commemorations, which, he said, showed that he was not committed to “the values of sovereignty and dignity that many people died for that day.”
He added that while President Michel Sleiman met with Saudi Arabian King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, “the president of lost opportunities is meeting with Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad as if he was the real Lebanese president and…the president of the Christians in Arab East.”
