Border Demarcation Clarification Will Complete Assad’s Decree Decision
Lebanese Forces MP Farid Habib said that the decree issued by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to establish diplomatic ties with Lebanon, even though it was 65 years late, will lead to political relief because Syrian authorities have now admitted for the first time Lebanon’s independence and sovereignty.
He added that, with all respect to President Michel Sleiman and his Arab role, the decree was a victory for the Lebanese state and the sovereign political parties despite “martyrdoms.”
He also said that Assad’s decision was made on France’s request after the four-way summit held in Damascus in September. He said that the process could not be completed before the implementation of border demarcation process, and the definition Shebaa Farms identity once for all.
