Geagea for Settling of Pending Issues with Syria
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Thursday said "vital issues" remain pending between Lebanon and Syria and they should be settled.
Such issues, according to Geagea, are topped by the topic of Lebanese citizens jailed or missing in Syria "which is a humanitarian and national issue."
Geagea, in an interview with Egyptian Television, said Lebanon is like "a group of nations in one state. It has a complex nature."
"That is why these nations need a strong state to maintain their unity," he added.
The Lebanese Forces, according to Geagea, is "neither with the Sunnis, nor against them and neither with the Shiites, nor against them. We are an integral part of the March 14 alliance."
"We are in alliance with the Mustaqbal Movement, for example, not because it represents the Sunnis, but because it believes in the same principles we adhere to, which include an independent and sovereign Lebanon," Geagea added.
He denied claims that north Lebanon is a base for terror, recalling that the Fatah al-Islam terrorist group is "linked to Syrian intelligence."
