Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra said that LF leader Samir Geagea’s apology toward the people of Lebanon was motivated by ethical reasons because Geagea became a politician after being a military leader.
In an interview with the Free Lebanon radio station on Sunday, Zahra said he regretted that there had been criticisms of the apology and said that some parties were acting this way to further the interests of foreign nations.
He denied that the apology aimed to pave the way for reconciliation with Marada Movement leader Sleiman Franjieh, instead saying that the reconciliation was intended to improve the security situation.
Zahra said that the best thing Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun could offer to Iran was to create division among the Christian community.
He added that Iran intended to become a regional power in order to intervene in the policies of the Middle East, and finance some factions to commit assassinations and security breaches in Lebanon.
