A Wide Gap Separates Us from Aoun
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Tuesday said the "Gap separating us from (Free Patriotic Movement leader) Michel Aoun is wide."
"The differences with Aoun are not restricted to politics, but are beyond that, they are ideological and strategic differences."
In answering a question, Geagea said he would "think one hundred times before accepting an invitation to visit Iran."
"Iran was never influential in Lebanon like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq and Syria. Iran”s current strategy is not in line with our concept of Lebanon," Geagea said.
"That is why I visited Egypt. We are part of the Middle East and we cannot ignore such a major and powerful state as Egypt," Geagea added.
Geagea said he is ready to "visit Syria once relations between Lebanon and Syria are straightened along the lines of specific conditions topped by tackling the issue of Lebanese citizens missing in Syrian jails."
He also called for demarcating the Syrian-Lebanese borders and pulling out pro-Syrian fighters of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command.
He warned that if the Hizbullah-led March 8 factions won the 2009 general elections Lebanon would be "hurled back into the pre-cedar revolution era … even if the Syrian Army is not deployed here."
