Franjieh Had No Intention of Reconciliation
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra told Voice of Lebanon on Thursday that it was good that Marada leader Sleiman Franjieh had announced that he was not ready for reconciliation adding that Franjieh, originally, had no intention to reconcile.
Zahra said he could not understand Franjieh’s discourse. The Lebanese Forces did not talk about political alliances resulting from reconciliation but steps to relieve people and remove tension.
Zahra said that it had become evident that Franjieh was maneuvering and the likelihood was that the Lebanese Forces would refuse to reconcile. Mediation, he added, was limited to the Maronite League and no committees had been formed either secretly or publicly.
“We support spreading calm through media as Franjieh requested, and from the outside we have taken no position toward Franjieh except as a reaction to what he and his movements say about us, and everybody knows this,” Zahra added.
