Lebanese Forces Hand Is Outstretched for Reconciliation, Ball Is in Franjieh’s Court
Environment Minister Antoine Karam said on Thursday that the Lebanese Forces still held the same position concerning reconciliation in the Christian community and the party’s, “hand is reaching out for reconciliation,” and he hoped, “it will be reciprocated to start a new chapter.”
Karam said that he did not know what Marada leader Sleiman Franjieh meant when he said, “we will reconcile one day.” However, he said that he wished reconciliation had occurred earlier and that it should happen soon.
Karam said that he knew Geagea and the Franjieh always mean what they say, and credibility was crucial for him.
Asked if reconciliation would be postponed until after the 2009 parliamentary elections, he said the ball was in Franjieh’s court and LF’s position was clear and unchanged and it has responded to all suggestions despite obstacles and different theories.
