National Defense Strategy Not Completed On the Dialogue Table
Democratic Gathering MP Akram Chehayeb said that discussion of the national defense strategy was not completed in the second dialogue session.
He said that there was clear negligence in the proposal of Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun on defense strategy and that the March 8 alliance was clearly detached in the dialogue table.
In an interview with Future News Television on Wednesday night, Chehayeb said that there was an oppressive regional situation and March 8 alliances needed more time.
“We, in March 14, took the decision to participate in the national dialogue according to the Doha agreement. We also approve that the decision of war and peace should be taken by the state on the long term.”
Chehayeb said it was crucial not to enlarge the dialogue table since the participants represent all factions. The Syrian regime, he added, is still being obstructive and is not ready for demarcation of the borders between the two countries.
