US Supports All Lebanese People
American Ambassador to Lebanon Michele Sison said that several internal and external challenges await the United States’ new administration. The world financial crisis in particular obliged the government to support the American people’s needs and to save the US economy, she said.
In an interview with Al-Mustaqbal newspaper on Thursday, she added that the US was open toward all political parties and supports all the people of Lebanon.
She said that new administration will always prioritize the issues of the Middle East and affirmed that the US was committed to Lebanon’s sovereignty, democracy, independence and freedom and the Special Tribunal on former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s assassination in 2005.
She also said that the new administration will put more pressure toward the implementation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions 1559 and 1701, and toward Syria not to intervene in Lebanese internal issues.
