Syrian Visit Aims to Secure Aoun’s funding For 2009 Electoral Campaign
The National Bloc said that certain parties in Lebanon were not prepared to make concessions on what they believe to be essential, such as their weapons.
The bloc said, in a statement on Thursday, that Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun’s coming visit to Damascus was aimed at securing Syrian funding for the party’s campaign in the 2009 elections.
“Syria knows Gen. Aoun very well, and realizes his weaknesses and how to manipulate him or to contact him directly or indirectly,” the statement read, “and we have seen proof of such contacts in the past few years.”
