If Syria has Any Facts Then Let it Present them to an Arab or International Commission
MP Ahmed Fatfat on Friday described as "baseless" Syrian allegations that there was a connection between Fatah al-Islam group and the Mustaqbal movement.
"The allegations are baseless. This theatre affirms that Fatah al-Islam is linked to Syrian intelligence," Fatfat said.
His comment came after a captured member of Fatah al-Islam group said that the terrorists had been funded by Mustaqbal movement during televised "confessions" to a suicide car-bombing carried out in Damascus in September.
In a statement to Agence France Presse (AFP), Fatfat added: "If they have any facts, let them present these facts to an Arab or international commission. Knowing the truth will be very beneficial."
He wondered "whether the recent Syrian military deployment on Lebanon”s borders is linked to the confessions."
Fatfat expressed fear about security breaches in the north and other parts of the country.
Fatfat described the current period as "dangerous," warning that the Syrians "believe they can exploit the transitional period in the United States to benefit at the expense of Lebanon."
