Mufti Jouzou Calls For Eliminating Political Sectarianism
Mount Lebanon Sunni Mufti Mohammad Ali Jouzou called for eliminating political sectarianism, “to save Lebanon from this malicious defect…which is the cause of all its crises and problems.”
In a statement issued on Sunday, he said that, “foreign parties use sectarianism to serve their colonial interests… and this has caused great intra-Muslim rifts and rifts among some Christians and Muslims.”
Jouzou warned that some security agencies have been infiltrated by Syrians since the time of Syrian hegemony in Lebanon. “We should purify these agencies from those who are still loyal to the Syrian intelligence,” he said.
Jouzou described the recent Syrian accusations that the Future Movement was involved in funding the group allegedly responsible for September bombing in Damascus as, “fabricated.”
