Working Through the Willingness of Others for Gain Does not Constitute Faith

Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir considered that working through the willingness of others to achieve personal gain does not constitute faith.

He hoped that Syria would come to release Lebanese detained in Syrian prisons, and for matters to return to calm.

During his Sunday sermon Sfeir said" For each of us to insist on working according to their will, or through the will of others, expecting support for self gain does not constitute faith."
He went on to add" We are in need of prayer these days, to be strong, to work according to the will of God."

Sfeir pointed "Every social system must be capable of change; it has to be capable to adjust to all historic situations, to move according to what is possible." However, Sfeir was quick to point "This must occur while taking the moral measure that makes it right into consideration."

Following mass on Sunday The Sfeir expressed his regret to family members of those missing in Syria hoping that "This shout will find listening ears by Syrian officials that those detained will be released and their families might find comfort."
