Some Parties Heightening Sectarianism
National Bloc leader Carlos Eddé accused certain Lebanese parties, whom he did not name, of heightening sectarian differences in order to stir up electoral support for the coming elections.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Eddé said that “such a strategy was used by the Fascist and Nazi organizations to stimulate the public opinion.”
“Those who seek real reconciliation have to apologize to their partisans for the stark contradiction between their political practices and their pledges and speeches,” he continued, before adding that some reconciliation had reached “a dead-end because there are certain political forces that refuse to disarm.”
“These arms have been used in internal political blackmail,” Eddé said.
