Aoun: Damascus visit would take place "very soon"
The leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Michel Aoun, on Thursday slammed those who attacked the defense strategy blueprint that he presented to the last national dialogue session.
In an interview with Hizbullah”s al-Manar TV station, Aoun said: "Shame on those attacking the proposal; it is beyond their comprehension."
"Future generations and specialists will read it, appreciate it and judge it," Aoun added.
"How could an important issue like this be underestimated and trivialized? It should have been discussed at the (national dialogue) table," he stressed.
The FPM leader disclosed that his Damascus visit would take place "very soon," adding that criticism of Interior Minister Ziad Baroud”s visit to the Syrian capital "comes as a prelude to his own expected visit."
He said his trip to Syria "goes beyond resolving a pending issue like that of the detainees," but that he would work to "prevent lurking problems."
