Harb, Zahra, Siniora Discuss Batroun Clashes
MP Butrous Harb and Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra on Wednesday discussed the security situation in Harb’s hometown of Batroun, a coastal city in North Lebanon, with Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.
“We discussed the security situation in the district of Batroun… and found that there is intention to recreate such events,” Harb said after the meeting.
MP Harb urged security services and the Lebanese army to “strike out against any breach of security with an iron fist” and commended Siniora’s understanding of the situation and instructions to security forces to suppress rioters.
Harb also requested whoever assaulted Hanna Sassine, a Lebanese civilian residing in Batroun, be handed over to authorities.
