Decomposed Body Found Close to Former Syrian Intelligence Center in Anjar
A decomposed body was found Friday near a former Syrian intelligence center in the Bekaa Valley town of Anjar.
Workers digging to construct a rain drainage channel at the Arab Highway unearthed the incomplete remains of a decomposed body.
Police cleared the scene and coroner”s office inspected the remains and will conduct DNA tests to properly identify the victim, time and cause of death.
Police and security authorities continued digging operations at the site till late in the evening on Friday.
Medical examiner Ali Salman said "the remains were found decomposed at the depth of three meters. Death dates back to twenty years, we cannot confirm presence of other remains on site."
"We will continue looking to find missing skeletal remains; digging operations will proceed on site Saturday and might expand," he added.
