Hopeful Gemayel’s Assassins Are Revealed before Next Anniversary
Defense Minister Elias al-Murr said, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the assassination of Minister Pierre Gemayel, that it was a sad day in the nation’s life because a young Lebanese man who believed in a Lebanon of freedom, sovereignty, dignity and independence had been killed.
“It is a sad day to remember an honorable brother, a loyal friend, and an honest colleague whom I knew as a courageous struggler,” he said in a press release issued on Sunday.
Murr said that Pierre was a “brother and friend” whose assassination increased the importance of maintaining Lebanon’s defense, countering terrorism, preserving freedoms and Lebanese dignities so that his blood was not cheapened and in order to preserve the dreams of youth. Murr said he hoped the criminals would be revealed, arrested and taken to court before the next anniversary.
