Resistance More Ready than Israelis for Battle
Hizbullah has ruled out an attack on the region, saying, however, that the resistance is more ready than the Israelis to engage in battle.
"The Israelis, unlike what is being said, are not ready for any field battle," Hizbullah”s international relations official Nawaf Moussawi told the daily al-Akhbar in remarks published Tuesday.
"The resistance in Lebanon is more ready than the Israeli army to engage in a military battle," Moussawi added.
Moussawi said Hizbullah rules out any attack on the region "because all nations are preoccupied with internal affairs," pointing to the upcoming political events in the U.S., Iran, Israel and Lebanon.
Moussawi, however, said ruling out any aggression does not mean Hizbullah is not ready to fight.
He said Hizbullah has not yet launched preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
"We seek to make sure that everybody is represented we seek partnership amongst all forces," he explained.
On the issue of providing the Lebanese army with weapons, Moussawi said Hizbullah backs this measure.
"The military institution, however, is unable to complete this task on its own. That”s why the resistance is there — as a deterrent force…which can carry out military missions the regular (Lebanese) army is incapable of fulfilling," he clarified.
