Najjar presides over meeting of Arab justice ministers
The Council of Arab Justice Ministers met at the Grand Serail on Thursday, with Lebanese Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar presiding for the first time, as Kuwaiti Justice Minister Hussein Nasser al-Hreiti handed over the presidency to him.
"It is a great honor for Lebanon to welcome the justice ministers of the Arab world and to adopt a complete set of draft laws and idealistic legislation that could be a model for developing Arab law," he said. "It is a great honor for us in Lebanon because we are turning an important page in our modern history and gradually reviving our institutions."
In his address to fellow ministers, Najjar said that their presence in Beirut was "added evidence of Lebanon”s historical progress." He added that Lebanon”s ambition was "to once again play an active and involved role in the Arab world, by seeking continuous development and adopting the proper instruments to establish state institutions." "I believe and all Lebanon believes in one justice," Najjar said. "I believe that challenges Arab countries are one."
