Belgium Prime Minister Yves Leterme on Saturday reiterated his country”s support for Lebanon”s stability and stressed the need to hold parliamentary elections on time and to resume national dialogue.
"We continue to support the process of political stability" in Lebanon, Leterme told a joint news conference with Prime Minister Fouad Saniora in Beirut.
He stressed on the "role Belgium could play in establishing peace and clam in this important part of the world."
Leterme discussed Lebanese-Syrian relations and ways to develop tourism and economy between Lebanon and Belgium.
He also pointed to Belgium”s new commitment to the assistance for the reconstruction of the Nahr al-Bared refugee camp.
Saniora, for his part, hailed Belgium”s "important role" in Lebanon over the past years.
Leterme also met with President Michel Suleiman and conveyed Belgium”s support to Lebanon.
He hailed Suleiman”s role in trying to build a harmonious society.
