Preventing Conflicts Will Shield Elections
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra emphasized the necessity of protecting the parliamentary elections in 2009 and called on everyone to avoid conflict.
In a conference on Thursday, he also called on the state’s authorities to carry out their duties and create an adequate atmosphere to run the elections, which he said will be fateful.
He added that some of those who had no interest in the Special Tribunal on former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s assassination might attempt to cancel or obstruct the elections through instigating security problems or bringing back the assassinations.
He also said that if March 8 alliance guaranteed the parliament’s majority, Wilayat al-Faqih project would be implemented in Lebanon through the state’s institutions.
