Geagea”s Defense Strategy: Israel is an Enemy Among Others
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Tuesday said his defense strategy blueprint would consider Israel an enemy among other enemies.
Geagea made the remark in an interview with Future Television.
He called for demarcating the Shebaa Farms borers "on the map" as long as demarcating in the field is not feasible.
The map should be signed by representatives of Lebanon and Syria and addressed to the United Nations.
Such map, Geagea added, would determine sovereignty over Shebaa Farms, not statements made by presidents or officials.
In answering a question about status of Christians after the visit to Syria by Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun, Geagea said:
"In light of past experiences of the late Kamal Jumblat, Suleiman Franjieh and Rafik Hariri, I”m not worried about the Christians, but I am worried about Aoun."
Geagea said Hizbullah”s activity provoked Israeli incursions.
Geagea said Christian forces of the March 14 alliance support the Taef Accord, noting Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has responded to Aoun”s call for amending it by calling for the president to be elected directly by the people.
He said the March 14 forces are united and would enter the forthcoming parliamentary elections on unified tickets.
Geagea concluded the interview by stating that the March 14 forces would accept the election results even if it failed to win and would admit defeat, urging all factions to accept results "whatever they may be."
