Geagea Meets Carter, Requests Inspectors to Help Prepare 2009 Elections
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea met with former US President Jimmy Carter on Thursday at Nejmeh Square, and said he asked the 39th president to send inspectors to assist the Lebanese people during the preparations for 2009 parliamentary elections.
Geagea warned that some foreign or domestic parties might use violence to attempt to postpone or influence the elections.
He said he was confident that Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and Interior Minister Ziad Baroud would work to ensure honest and transparent elections.
