Future of Lebanon Lies In the Hands of the Christians
General secretariat member of the March 14 alliance, Michel Mouawad, said “the future of Lebanon this time lies in the hands of the Christians, because they must choose between building Lebanon’s state or turning it into a battlefield,” following a meeting with Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir in Bkirki on Wednesday.
Mouawad added, “Lebanon as a nation, a state and a democratic system is in danger today.”
He said that “any proposal from outside the state and the national consensus framework poses a threat on their [Christians] existence in Lebanon.”
Mouawad called on the Christians not to join any regional power, because the “visits that have been made on the paths of Saints Paul and Maroun are, in fact, visits on the paths of Emile Lahoud and Eli Hobeika.
Mouawad called for reconciliation among the Lebanese under the patronage of the state.
