Before and After Bush Hizbullah will remain Hizbullah
U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michele Sission considered that the principles upon which the U.S. administration bases its policy towards Lebanon will not change.
The U.S. ambassador said that this is regardless of who is in power, Democrats or Republicans.
She affirmed that United States objective is to maintain Lebanon”s sovereignty.
In an interview with the weekly Magazine al-Massira (to be published Monday) , Sisson pointed that the United States will not sacrifice Lebanon”s interests even if U.S. -Syrian relations are back to normal.
Sisson was asked how the new U.S. administration would view Hizbullah:" Before and after President Bush, Hizbullah will be Hizbullah." Sisson replied.
Regarding fears by the Lebanese people that the international tribunal will be a scape- goat to American-Syrian negotiations, Sisson affirmed that the tribunal is a fact, it”s work will continue and will be established.
She was asked what policy President-elect Obama would follow concerning Iran.
"The United States objective is very clear, that is to adapt diplomacy in solving all disputes." Sisson said.
