Sectarian Partitioning Exercised By Aoun Most Dangerous
National Bloc Party said that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s visit to Syria earlier this month was a strategy to implement a policy based on turning the Lebanese Christians from their status as citizens in their country to a religious minority in the region. “Like this he [Aoun] is applying a Zionist strategy to establish religious sub-states that are sectarian, confessional and racist,” the bloc stated.
After its executive board meeting, which was headed by Carlos Eddé, the party said that the most dangerous kind of partition was not geographically defined, rather the sectarian way of thinking, which Aoun was applying, the statement read.
The party said that the Lebanese army would restore things to their right place, emphasizing that it was the foundation of any defense strategy, because it protected the land and the border. This is contrary to the hidden agendas of some parties, who wanted to sidetrack the Internal Security Forces by distracting them with traffic issues, while they, not the army, were supposed to handle security problems and terrorism. As a result, defending the borders and the nation was left to the resistance.
The party called for the army to handle the defense strategy alone, because it was the army’s duty, adding it was expected by all Lebanese, who believed in the unity of their land and people.
