March 8 Would Disrupt the 2009 Elections If Convinced Of Defeat

Future Bloc MP Ammar Houri expressed regret on Sunday of the minority’s “political categorisation” of the constitutional council.

Houri denied, in an interview to the daily al-Mustaqbal, that “the majority violated an agreement that was reached on the five names that the parliament had appointed in its last session” to elect the judges which are loyal to it.

He said that “the constitution won and the rule of law won and the parliament practiced its normal role in electing the members of the constitutional council.

He said that the opposition tried in the parliamentary questioning session to distort the image and performance of some of the majority’s ministers in the cabinet.

Houri said that the oppositions’ reservations on the Russian military grant to Lebanon come “in line with their vision of the defense strategy that renders the army incapable of defending the nation.

He said that “history would remember the Russians, Minister Elias Murr and MP Saad Hariri for this achievement.”

On the upcoming 2009 elections, Houri said that the “March 14 forces are doing all what is necessary to conclude this stage successfully as usual. We will form unified lists of candidates in all Lebanon, and by God’s will March 14 will emerge from this elections with a bigger majority.”

He said that March 8, who are “convinced of their upcoming defeat in the elections, would do the impossible to disrupt the elections.”
