I Will Run In Elections on the Principles and Values of March 14
Economy and Trade Minister Mohammad al-Safadi questioned the “seasonal voices” that have attacked his positions regarding Tripoli in the cabinet.
“They claim that they speak on behalf of March 14, but they are the farthest people in their history and practices from the values and principles of the Independence Revolution,” he said.
During a meeting with delegations at his office in Tripoli on Sunday, Safadi said that the people established the principles of the March 14 movement and he was committed to them. The citizens of Tripoli, he added, played a significant role in establishing those principles and they could not be deprived of their natural right to participate politically and administratively in national decisions. He also said that the citizens of Tripoli should not be deprived of their economic and development rights.
With regard to his electoral alliances, Safadi said that it was the time to work and that it was still too soon to finalize alliances. Safadi said it was natural for him to form an alliance with Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri, due to their personal relationship. “Anyway, there is no need to rush and spread rumors that intend to separate us. I assure you that I will not run in the elections except on the principles and values of March 14,” he said.
