Suleiman Supports Arab Summit on Gaza
Lebanese President Michel Suleiman declared support for efforts to hold an urgent summit conference on Gaza.
Suleiman, talking to Palestine Liberation Organization Representative Abbas Zaki, also said he was satisfied with unity of Palestinian factions in Lebanon, but dismayed by the lack of Arab solidarity.
The president told the Palestinian delegation he was exerting efforts with foreign states to "halt the massacre" being committed by Israel in Gaza.
Suleiman said he agreed with Premier Fouad Saniora on holding a cabinet meeting at the Baabda Palace on Tuesday to declare a unified stand of "solidarity" with Gaza.
He praised efforts by Palestinian factions to prevent the protests against the attack on Gaza from escalating into acts of violence and attacks on foreign embassies.
