It Is Time to Define Defense Strategy against Hezbollah
Deputy Head of the Kataeb Party in Achrafieh Nadim Gemayel said that it was time to define a defense strategy against Hezbollah after the party used its weapons domestically during the May events.
In an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper As-Siyassa, he regretted that Lebanon had not reached real independence yet because some parties were still favoring foreign countries’ interests over Lebanese interest and were receiving instructions from Syria and Iran.
He noted that Syria was still considered a source of danger on Lebanon and that it was supporting some “terrorist factions.”
He added that the relations with Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun and other politicians should be defined by the national interest and said that Syria exploited Aoun’s visit to Damascus in order to increase the disparity among Christians.
He also said that the organized reception of Aoun in Syria aimed to divert attention from basic hung issues between both countries.
Gemayel affirmed that he will announce his candidacy during the parliamentary elections within the March 14 alliance and with MP Michel Pharaoun and Nayla Tueni.
