Baroud expects political disputes to inflate during the parliamentary elections
In an interview with Free Lebanon radio station on Saturday, Interior Minister Ziad said that disputes and political discussions would be expected to inflate more during the parliamentery elections, however the competition should not exceed nor cross the red line.
Baroud stated that the matter could be resolved primarily through the cabinet or through coordinating between concerned parties, noting the earlier event of removing posters in Beirut.
Baroud also said that there were three main challenges facing Lebanon, the first was the threat from terrorrist networks, although the security services are highly alert to this matter.
The second challenge, was ensuring that a prime political and security situation was achieved by the time the elections were due, adding this could only be achieved through political solidarity. The third challenge, Baroud added, was following up the regional and international developments. “As much as we are domestically strong. "What is happening in Gaza is an critical indication on the importance of Lebanese solidarity" he said.
