Nasrallah Would Neither Implicate Himself Nor Lebanon
MP Michel Murr said Monday that Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah is fully aware of the situation in Gaza and would neither implicate himself nor Lebanon in a confrontation with Israel.
On Nasrallah”s remark of "they cannot drag us into battle," Murr said: "This is good, the Secretary-General is speaking with calm and prudence, he knows how to accompany events" without taking a military action "that could destroy Lebanon."
Following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir in Bkirki, Murr spoke of "a quiet move for achieving internal reconciliation."
He stressed on the importance of the authorities of both the president and the seat of the Maronite church, defending the Patriarch against critics who say Sfeir "should not be allowed to delve into politics."
Murr said that Lebanon”s official stance on the events in Gaza is good, referring to the president”s call for holding an urgent Arab summit coupled with the popular and official support given to the cabinet for helping the Palestinians in Gaza.
He did not support holding anti-Israeli demonstrations, adding that steps taken by the government and private associations in support of Gazans are enough.
