March 14 calls for a UN resolution to stop the bloodshed in Gaza
The March 14 General Secretariat condemned “continued massacres perpetrated by the Israeli army against the Palestinian citizens of Gaza”, and denounced the latest attacks on schools and relief agencies.
In a statement issued after its weekly meeting on Wednesday, the alliance called on the UN Security Council, which was scheduled to convene on Wednesday on the Gaza crisis, to “end the twelve-day bloodshed” and issue a resolution for a permanent ceasefire immediately.
The statement also called for the reunification of political ranks in Palestine and for Arab support for Palestinians “to protect defenseless citizens who do not have a way to confront the Israeli killing machine.”
“Arab and Palestinian legitimacy are the only way to face the Israeli aggression, especially after the absurdity of Syrian and Iranian incitement was proved, as well as their alleged support of the Palestinian people in political statements that have no impact on the course of events,” the statement read.
March 14 also commented on the need to protect Lebanon “after the repeated threats made by politicians and security officials in Israel, the mobilization of Israeli forces on the border with Lebanon and increased air violations of Lebanese sovereignty.”
The statement confirmed Lebanon’s commitment to international resolutions, and in particular UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which it said should be the cornerstone of any defense strategy for Lebanon.
The alliance also hailed the Maronite patriarch and the Maronite Bishops Council for protecting the country against “internal and external problems.”
