Jouzou Slams Nasrallah’s Criticism of Egypt
Mufti of Mount Lebanon Sheikh Mohammed Ali al-Jouzou said Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s “campaign” against Egypt was “suspicious,” “Iranian,” and carried “religious and regional dimensions.”
Jouzou said Nasrallah’s statements, which he made on the last day of Ashoura, were “very serious because they ignite a fire between the Arab peoples and the Iranian people."
In a statement released Thursday, Jouzou recalled Egypt’s role in fighting for the “liberation of Palestine in 1948 and 1956, the invasion of 1967, and the US-Russian conspiracy in 1973.”
“Where are Iran”s wars against the Zionist enemy? Is it the interest of the Arabs and Muslims to enter the region into such a conflict?” he asked.
Jouzou also questioned whether a new sectarian war would result from a divide between those loyal to Iran and those loyal to Egypt in Lebanon.
