Abbas Denounces Launching Of Rockets into Israel from Lebanon
Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas Thursday said he hoped a rocket salvo into northern Israel from Lebanon was an "isolated incident" and noted that no Palestinian groups have claimed responsibility.
"I hope it was an isolated incident and that it does not complicate things," he told a joint press conference in Madrid with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
He said "all condemn" the attack and "no Palestinian parties have claimed it." Rockets slammed into northern Israel from Lebanon earlier on Thursday, with the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah indicating it was not responsible for the attack that sowed panic on both sides of the tense border. No group had claimed responsibility for the salvo, which came as Israel pushed on with its 13-day-old offensive on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
