Lebanese Concerned With Attempts to Implicate Lebanon in an Unnecessary War
Deputy leader of the Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan said, after meeting with Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir on Sunday in Bkirki, that the Lebanese people were concerned about attempts to use Lebanon as an arena for, or to implicate it in, an unnecessary war.
In a response to a question about Loyalty to the Resistance bloc leader MP Muhammad Raad’s speech on Saturday, in which Raad said they refused to be dragged into war, Adwan said that this position was responsible and good. He added that all Lebanese people should take decisions related to the defense of their territory.
He added that, in addition to the cabinet’s reassuring stance, the Lebanese needed to see that their security services were carrying out their duties and determining the identity of those who launched rockets toward Israel and that they would bring them to justice.
“We do not care about reassuring the Israeli enemy, but our duty consists of restoring confidence in the heart of the Lebanese,” he said.
