Suleiman Urges Palestinians to Unify Ranks
President Michel Suleiman on Monday urged Palestinian factions to unify their ranks, recalling that Hizbullah”s resistance enjoyed state backing while confronting Israel in 2006.
Suleiman, addressing a delegation from Nayef Hawatmeh”s Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), said Lebanon is not against better living conditions for Palestinian refugees.
"This requires cooperation between the state and the Palestinians, starting with implementing what Lebanese leaders had agreed on during dialogue sessions, especially what is related to eliminating Palestinian military bases outside refugee camps," Suleiman added.
He said all the Lebanese People "sympathize with the cause of Palestine" and expressed hope that a cease-fire could be reached in Gaza prior to the Arab Economic Summit in Kuwait.
"Israel should halt its aggression and withdraw from Gaza immediately," Suleiman stressed.
