Lebanon Receives Additional New U.S. Military Hardware
U.S. Embassy Communiqué on Tuesday announced the delivery of 72 Humvees last December 28 provided by the U.S. Government arrived at the port of Beirut.
"Twelve of these vehicles will be used as medical ambulances; each can carry three patients. Maintenance and operation training for over forty Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) personnel is part of the on-going assistance program. The LAF has received 350 Humvees to date; 275 more will be delivered by the end of the year," U.S. embassy communiqué said.
It went on to add that the overall goal of U.S. military assistance to Lebanon is to strengthen the military and increase its capacity to defend Lebanon”s borders.
Since 2006, the United States has allocated over $410 million to the Lebanese military.
