Ban Ki-moon arrives in Lebanon to meet senior officials
The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Lebanon on Friday on an official state visit during which he is to meet local senior officials.
Ban will meet Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Saturday as well as the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri and the Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, according to a statement by the UN Media Centre in Beirut.
The UN secretary general is also expected to make a speech at the Lebanese Parliament followed by a visit to the troops of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), concluding his visit by a press briefing at the Lebanese capital.
Ban has already visited Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Turkey and the Palestinian territories.
After Lebanon, Ban”s next stop will be Syria then Kuwait where he will attend the Arab Economic, Development and Social Summit, said the statement.
