Najjar says Arab division issue is “insolence”
Speaking to Voice of Lebanon radio station on Saturday, minister of Justice Ibrahim Najjar said that instead of unity and solidarity between the Arab nations over the Gaza crisis, there is division and disparity.
He said that this issue is considered “insolence”; there are three Arab summits in addition to the negotiations between Hamas and Israel with Egyptian mediation. He ruled out any real solution in the Gaza strip as long as Hamas persists in its political demands.
As for President Michel Sleimane, the minister said he was determined to participate in Friday’s Doha meeting before the calls for him to attend the meeting, adding that some domestic parties were putting pressure on him. “Sleimane cannot abandon the Arab Peace Initiative signed in Beirut as recommended by the Doha meeting’s final statement”, the minister said.
He pointed out that Syria and Qatar will not accept any solution unless it was through an agreement between Hamas and the Palestinian state similar to Doha Accord on Lebanon. This way they will be able to obstruct any decision in order to control the region.
