Sleiman Is Subjected To Unacceptable Pressures
Lebanese Forces Executive Council leader Samir Geagea denounced the pressures that President Michel Sleiman has been placed under during the past days.
Geagea said, in a meeting with Lebanese Forces supporters in Zahle in the Bekaa Valley on Saturday, that “such behavior is unacceptable and out of line with the unified Lebanese stance that is being discussed inside the cabinet, which includes all the political parties, and not in the street.”
Geagea was referring to the demonstrations in Awkar near the US embassy, in which the participants slammed Sleiman and called for the return of former President Emile Lahoud.
He said that treating the head of the country in such a way “is far from what was agreed upon in the Doha Agreement and from the spirit of consensus.”
He said he supported the Arab and Lebanese position, which calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
