Al-Manar “Weaves Misinformation” To Divert Attention from Abuse of Christian Symbols
The Lebanese Forces Information Office on Friday issued a statement denouncing the Hezbollah-run Al-Manar television channel and criticizing it for “weaving a series of lies and misinformation that no longer fools anyone.”
The statement was referring Al-Manar’s decision to publish reports on Google ads on Israel that had appeared on the Lebanese Forces website. The statement noted that the official Lebanese Forces website was on the list of sites which Google automatically posted advertisements on, as part of what was known as “Google ad sense.”
The statement confirmed that that the official Lebanese Forces website had been working for some time to try to “ban all suspect sites.” The best proof of that, the statement added, was that the Free Patriotic Movement website also featured the ads.
The statement said Al-Manar’s broadcast attempted to divert attention from the issue of blasphemy against Christian religious symbols.
