US Middle East envoy George Mitchell arrived in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank on Thursday for talks with Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas.
Mitchell”s meeting with the Palestinian leader comes a day after he spoke with Israeli leaders in Jerusalem as part of his maiden visit to the region.
The 75-year-old former US senator, who helped broker peace in Northern Ireland in 1998, has been charged by new President Barack Obama with "vigorously" resuscitating the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
