Geagea Backs Centrists
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Thursday said his party would compete in the forthcoming elections even if armed factions competed.
Geagea, talking to reporters after receiving U.S. Ambassador Michele Sisson at his residence in Rabiyeh, said the Lebanese Forces Party is not a centrist group.
However, He said if neutral candidates were interested in joining the competition "their nomination would not be rejected."
He said centrist candidates would not be restricted to Christian constituencies, but would compete in "other constituencies, such as Tripoli, Akkar and the Bekaa."
