FPM-Hezbollah MoU used against those who support building a powerful state
Minister of Environment Tony Karam said, in a statement issued on Friday, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah was used against the Lebanese Forces and all those who support building a powerful state and call for restricting all arms to legitimate military institutions.
He added that these “desperate attempts” aimed at tarnishing the Lebanese Forces’ image before the public opinion, which, Karam said, was able to differentiate between those who support the people’s rights and those who depend on political rhetoric and falsifying facts.
He expressed surprise toward Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s attempt to recall the past, adding that “a television channel was playing the same role through cheap and well-known means.”
Karam also said that the Lebanese Forces had previously confirmed that the kidnapping of the four Iranian diplomats had taken place during the rule of late Minister Elie Hobeika. He called for questioning those who accompanied Hobeika at the time and those who currently support the opposition, after supporting Syria since 1985.
